Are you planning to appear for the ITIL V3 Foundation Exam?

Congrats!

It is nice to see that, you have taken interest in the ITIL framework and beginning to explore the same. I am writing this blog to encourage you to know about ITIL and along the way pass the Foundation Exam. The current version is 3 (ITIL v3, as they call it).

Let me start with a few links, you MUST go through, before you start. This will enable you to understand what is ITIL and why it is now THE defacto framework for Service Management.

Points to note: Service Change is the addition, modification or removal of authorized, planned or supported service or service component and its associated documentation The Transition includes, but nit restricted to: Organizational changes. ITIL v3 Phases

The current version follows a Service Lifecycle model. Simply put: Managing the Service from conceptualizing the Service to, being able to operate (deliver & manage day-to-day) till the end-of-life. It consists of 5 broad logical Phases, each of them encompassing various relevant processes. The place where the Management analyses to decide, plan and approve the Service to be created, is the Service Strategy Phase. Where the developers and Architects design the Service is the Service Design Phase.
